Do you feel guilty even after saying a prayer? Do you feel the never ending urge to just keep rolling in the mud to show your remorse to God? Are you unsure of God’s willingness to forgive you?
Many times, we do things that we don’t want to, by the nature of our flesh and afterwards our conscience questions us in a way that causes us to feel accused and guilty, so much so that when not properly handled can lead to dejection and depression.
Sinning is not the end of the road. Identifying and admitting that an action is sin is very crucial and should lead us to a place where we humble ourselves before God to seek his mercy and forgiveness, as well as grace to live above sin.
We can be sure of God’s forgiveness by what he has made available for the whole world, by his generous nature, when he decided to send his son- Jesus Christ to the earth to save us from our sins.
The bible in 1 John 1:9 (NKJV) says, “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” When we come to him, he doesn’t only forgive us, he also cleanses us from all unrighteousness.
The first step you must be willing to take, is to humbly go before God confessing your wrongs in willingness for him to help you stand firmly in him afterwards.
The bible says “if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.” - 2 Corinthians 7:14, NKJV.
He expects that from that place you move into transformation.
Secondly, you must accept Jesus as your Lord and saviour, only then will you be able to receive and live in the grace that enables you to live above sin. His forgiveness is available to the whole world but the enabling power to live by his Holy Spirit is for those who have received him in their lives.
Lastly, forgive yourself and others too, be as generous as God is by showing his love to others. Never hold grudges against anyone. Instead, live a life full of peace and forgive others as God does to you.
